This GPS Tour Guide caters to the YOUNG and YOUNG AT HEART who like hiking, swimming in the pools of waterfalls, and ADVENTURE. Other Hana tour guide apps "must stops" are almost all scenic views. Scenic views are great and we tell you about those too, but we also tell you about hidden waterfalls, swimming holes, waterfalls upstream that you wouldnt know about without the tour. This audio tour is also for those who like to plan ahead. This PREMIRE app includes description, multiple pictures, and map for EVERY attraction as well as GPS commentary that plays automatically as you drive for EVERY attraction. This app is designed to educate and inform you about Maui history and facts and guide you along the Road to Hana. You can customize your tour and be notified when a stop has your interests. Works with iPhone, iPad and iPod. Check out our screen shots and see for yourself.

The Road to Hana is one of the top rated activities on Maui. When you purchase this app, for each attraction you will receive-

A personal tour guide telling you about upcoming attractions, hidden falls, unknown hikes, and Maui history and culture
Multiple pictures of each attraction
Description of the stop
Map showing each stop and where you are in relation to the stop
The ability to customize your interests and be notified when you are at a location with your interests
A rating for each attraction
Automatic GPS audio that will begin as you near each location, as well as the ability to start it on their own for those without GPS
The ability to replay the audio if you missed something
The ability to read along with the audio as it plays
The amount of time you can expect to spend at each location
Mile marker of each attraction
A chime that will go off when you are at one of the attractions so you will never be wondering where the stop is

One mistake people make as they travel the Road to Hana is to try and read a book telling them about the sights. Unfortunately, the combination of reading and this winding road makes for a miserable time with carsickness. When you buy this app, you will be able to sit back and enjoy your travels as you listen to the commentary about the beaches, waterfalls, hikes, history, and interesting facts about Maui. You also have the option to look ahead and view the pictures and read the descriptions to see which attractions look most interesting to you. As you begin your tour you will also be given the opportunity to select your interests. The tour guide will inform you as you reach an attraction with your interests.

Don’t have GPS? No worries. If you are using and iPod or iPad without GPS, you will still be able to enjoy the tour, you will just have to play the information manually as you travel. Fortunately, each location information page has the mile marker, so you will know when you are getting close to a particular attraction and can play the audio

It is recommended to bring a phone charger with you. Though you will not be using cellular service or have data charges, you’re phone will be constantly searching for a GPS signal and thus wear out the battery quickly. If you don’t have one, try to pick one up at the Walmart or Kmart in Kahului before you leave. Try to get on the road by 7:00 to avoid the heavy crowds and have the whole day to spend seeing the sights. Have a fun and safe trip. Mahalo!

Pros and cons of Maui Road To Hana GPS Guide app for iPhone and iPad

Maui Road To Hana GPS Guide app good for

This app was great. I just wish it gave you a bit more warning as to the next stop. Its hard to turn around.
When I was planning my familys trip to Maui I figured, what the heck, why not try this app? Cant hurt, right? I honestly never expected it to be so useful. Im still glad I brought my handy Maui Revealed book, because thats what I used to decide what we would stop to explore, but this app made it SO much easier to find everything and to know exactly when to stop. I really enjoyed the informative commentary as well. Overall, an absolutely outstanding app.
If you plan on driving to Hana on your own, then you need this app. This app tracks your gps as you drive and gives you info about many things on your drive before you reach them. It also gives you plenty of history and information about Maui. Its like having a tour guide on your phone or device.
Very helpful and good value for the $$. The talking points during the lulls between points of interest were nice. Would be nice to have some music available through the app but at least it continues working in the background.
Want a helpful guide on your trip to Hana? Look no further! This app helps you anticipate upcoming stops based on your interests, so you can better navigate the narrow road and traffic. It works without a mobile signal too, which is fantastic because there are times you will lose service for a while. Definitely worth the money.
We really appreciated this application. Well done and very useful.

Some bad moments

The application worked great for the first 5 miles after that it wouldnt work or say anything anymore try turning off and on the cellular it didnt work again till I got back. I have an iPhone 6 with Verizon wireless.
So I bought this app to help navigate the Road to Hana. It froze. It kept shutting off. I couldnt get the voice to work. There was no volume. I spent too much time reading it myself and would have missed the tour. Dont waste your money. Used the Maui Revealed app instead.
I was VERY disappointed in this app. It did not consistently play so we had to read the entries...which is not good on a winding road. It played the intro and the first two and then nothing adter that. This is a one time use app so not having it work when we needed it to means it was a waste of $5. Plus it diminished our experience of the Road to Hana.
This GPS app for the Road to Hana is the only way to go! It functioned well on my cell phone and we did not experience any glitches with the GPS. I like how it let us know what stops were ones we should not miss as there are so many to stop and see. It helped us prioritize our day so we could see everything that we were most interested in seeing in one day.
I cant say enough about this app. I will tell everyone I know to buy it, it was great. I thought the information about Maui was entertaining but not too much boring stuff, and loved getting the heads up about all there was to do on the Road to Hana. My wife gets carsick, and she was able to just look out at the scenery instead of reading in a book about what there is to see, we just listened as we went along. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking the Road to Hana. My kids loved seeing where we were going ahead of the trip too!
I bought this before our trip and it did offer lots of info on each area of interest before we left for the Road to Hana, but once we got past a certain point it stopped working as there is no GPS on the other side of the island! Very glad we stopped and bought the CD in Paia. Upon our return to the mainland I contacted customer support to let them know of my troubles and they were IMMEDIATELY in touch to help figure out what went wrong. After going thru a checklist of fixes, we determined that it probably had something to do with my phone, not the app, but they were very kind to refund the cost of the CD and are checking to make sure that the app has no glitches. All the other reviews were so excellent, Im inclined to believe that the problem had to have been on my end. This app has great detail about each mile marker and is extremely informative. Make sure you actually USE the hints page as it probably resolves any issues. Had I done that, the app would probably have worked just great:) Mahalo for all your help on addressing my concerns! All app creators should be this conscientious!
